ORDINANCE NO. 79- 20 <br />AN ORDINANCE A4ENDING INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ORDINANCE <br />71-3 AND AMENDMENTS THERETO BY REDEFINING DEFINITIONS <br />IN SECTION 2, i.e., NURSING HOME OR CONVALESCENT HOME <br />AND CREATING A DEFINITION FOR HOME FOR AGED <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA: <br />a. That the Definition for Nursing or Convalescent <br />Home described as: <br />Nursing or convalescent home: A home, institution, <br />building or residence, public or private, whether <br />operated for profit or not, which provides main- <br />tenance, personal care or nursing for a period <br />exceeding twenty-four hours to three or more ill, <br />physically infirm, convalescing, or aged persons <br />who are not related by blood or marriage to the <br />operator. The definition of nursing or convalescent <br />home does not include hospitals, clinics or similar <br />institutions which are devoted primarily to the <br />diagnosis and treatment of the sick or injured. <br />is hereby revoked and the following definition substituted in <br />in its place: <br />Nursing or convalescent home: A home, institution, <br />building or residence, public or private, whether <br />operated for profit or not, presently licensed <br />pursuant to Florida Statute 400.062, which provides <br />maintenance, personal care or nursing for a period <br />exceeding twenty-four hours to three or more ill, <br />physically infirm, convalescing, or aged persons <br />who are not related by blood or marriage to the <br />operator. The definition of nursing or convalescent <br />home does not include hospitals, clinics or similar <br />institutions which are devoted primarily to the <br />diagnosis and treatment of the sick or injured. <br />b. That a new definition of Home for aged be added <br />to Section 2 following the definition for Guest cottages, <br />which definition shall read as follows: <br />Home for aged: A home, institution, building or <br />residence, public or private, whether operated for <br />profit or not, which provides maintenance, personal <br />care or nursing for a period exceeding twenty-four <br />hours to three or more ill, physically infirm, <br />convalescing, or aged persons who are not related <br />by blood or marriage to the operator. The definition <br />of home for aged does not include hospitals, clinics, <br />or similar institutions which are devoted primarily <br />to the diagnosis and treatment of the sick or <br />injured. <br />C.
