Florida X' <br />After Hurricane David, in cooperation with the Director of <br />Civil Defense, Lee Nuzie, I worked with the joint federal <br />and state damage evaluation teams to assess the damage. <br />That survey resulted in an initial opinion in both the <br />residential and business losses in Indian River County in <br />the amount of $19,875,000. <br />On September 7th the Civil Defense Director requested that <br />an estimate be made of governmental activities relating <br />to Hurricane David and the subsequent needs for recovery <br />be made. He requested that I be the Chairman of the Damage <br />Assessment Committee. <br />That estimate indicated at least $4,520,000 needed in beach <br />restoration and $4,129,000 in governmental services and <br />activities. <br />On September l2-th the Regional Supervisor for the Farm Horne <br />Administration requested an estimate of citrus losses for <br />Indian River County, At an emergency Board Meeting of the <br />
