FOURTH OF.IULYFIREWORKSFUNDING,MISCELLANEOUSBUDGET <br />AMENDMENT 009 <br />Because of this year's budgetary constraints, Commissioner Wheeler wanted to <br />choose Alternative #1, to decline funding for the fireworks displays for the Cities of Sebastian <br />and Vero Beach. <br />Board members wondered if the fireworks funding could come from the Tourist <br />Tax. Attorney Collins explained why funding fireworks was not an appropriate use of that tax. <br />Further discussion ensued as Chairman Bowden, Vice Chairman Davis, and <br />Commissioners Flescher and O'Bryan attested to the importance and value of having the <br />fireworks displays to draw the community together in celebration of America's birthday. In spite <br />of this year's budgetary constraints, it was decided to proceed with the contribution of funds to <br />the cities of Sebastian and Vero Beach for the fireworks. <br />C <br />April 15, 2008 <br />
