<br /> <br />Commissioner Bowden asked if there was anything else that was a gray area. The attorneys <br />thought there was not. County Attorney Collins said a lot of thoughtful, intelligent information <br />was put on the record that would support the historic nature of this property based on the testimony <br />of scores of people, and that was a good thing. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wheeler said the input from the audience was fantastic. He thought this <br />property has historical and tourist values and wanted $500,000 added from the tourist tax money. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bowden wanted to know if that $500,000 would come out of any other <br />project. Commissioner Wheeler said it would have to come out of the budget. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued between the Commissioners and County Administrator Baird on where <br />to find additional funding. <br /> <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Davis, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Lowther, the Board <br />voted 3–2 (Commissioners Bowden and Wheeler <br />opposed), to purchase the Capt’n Butcher parcels for <br />$8 million. <br /> <br /> MOTION FAILED passage for lack of super majority vote. <br /> <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Davis, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Lowther, the Board, <br />in a 3–2 vote, (Commissioners Bowden and Wheeler <br />opposed), approved to enter into a contract to <br />purchase the Capt’n Butcher parcels for $7.65 <br />April 18, 2006 <br />20 <br /> <br />
