In response to Commissioner O'Bryan's query, Director Matson clarified that there were <br />no line items for bus shelters in this Grant; however, there were in the two previous. He related <br />that bus shelters would be considered in order to offer maximum protection in locations where <br />large groups of people gather, but where there are small groups, consideration would be given to <br />purchasing benches for under trees, or possibly looking for safe alternatives, depending on the <br />stop. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner O'Bryan, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Solari, the Board by a 4-0 vote <br />(Commissioner Wheeler absent) approved Resolution <br />2009-064, authorizing the filing of a FY 2008/09 Grant <br />Application for 49 USC CH. 53, Section 5307 Mass <br />Transit Capital and Operating Assistance. <br />10.B. REQUEST TO SPEAK BYHELENE CASELTINE, DIRECTOR OF <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, INDIAN RIVER CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE REGARDING PROJECT OSPREY <br />Ms. Caseltine shared the good news of a national award that had been received from the <br />Trade and Industry Development Magazine. She explained how there was a national <br />competition in search of a project that had local community impacts, and that the Chamber and <br />Enterprise Florida had submitted the nomination for Project Osprey, also known as the retention <br />of Piper Aircraft.
