r <br />DEC 51979 42 BASE 186 <br />DISCUSSION FOLLOWED AS TO THE NECESSITY FOR HOLDING <br />ANOTHER PUBLIC HEARING. COMMISSIONER SIEBERT NOTED THAT WITH A <br />SUBSTANTIAL DEVIATION, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OF A PUBLIC HEARING IF <br />YOU WANT IT, BUT DID NOT BELIEVE IT IS REQUIRED. <br />COMMISSIONEP LOY NOTED THAT ATTORNEY SHERMAN SMITH WAS <br />THE ONE WHO REQUESTED THAT THERE BE ANOTHER HEARING IF THERE WAS <br />A SUBSTANTIAL DEVIATION, BUT HIS CLIENT IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE <br />PROPOSED DEVIATION. <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE BROUGHT UP THE MATTER OF THE NEXT CENSUS <br />REPORT, A GREAT DEAL OF WHICH IS PROPOSED TO BE DONE BY MAIL. HE <br />NOTED THAT THE CHAIRMAN WILL BE REQUIRED TO APPOINT A "COMPLETE <br />COUNT" COMMITTEE, WHICH HE IS NOT PREPARED TO DO AT THIS TIME. <br />THIS ALSO INVOLVES THE HIRING OF CETA WORKERS. HE CONTINUED THAT <br />HE HAS TURNED THIS MATTER OVER TO THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATOR <br />TO RESEARCH, <br />COORDINATOR THOMAS STATED THAT HE WILL BE ATTENDING A <br />MEETING IN FORT PIERCE FRIDAY TO DISCUSS THE CENSUS. <br />PLANNING & ZONING DIRECTOR DAVID REVER BELIEVED THAT THE <br />CETA PEOPLE ARE MEANT TO BE THE SUPPORT STAFF, AND THE COMMITTEE <br />IS TO BE THE DIRECTORATE BODY. <br />DISCUSSION CONTINUED AS TO HOW THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE <br />CETA PEOPLE COULD BE HANDLED, AND CHAIRMAN WODTKE NOTED THAT WITH <br />THIS CENSUS BEING DONE THROUGH THE MAIL, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO <br />EDUCATE THE PEOPLE. HE WONDERED HOW WE WOULD KNOW WHO ANSWERED <br />AND WHO DID NOT. <br />MR. REVER AGREED WE WILL HAVE TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AS <br />TO THE IMPORTANCE OF FILLING OUT THE CENSUS CARDS SO THAT WE HAVE <br />A GOOD RESPONSE. HE NOTED THAT ONE OUT OF FIVE WILL GET A MORE <br />DETAILED FORM, AND HE BELIEVED THESE WILL BE FOLLOWED UP AND CON- <br />TACTED PERSONALLY. <br />- WENDY LANCASTER OF THE PLANNING STAFF REVIEWED THE REVISED <br />APPLICATION FEE SCHEDULE. SHE NOTED THAT THE FEES HAVE NOT BEEN <br />REVISED SINCE .JULY OF 1974, AND THE OLD FEES DO NOT NOW COVER THE <br />SERVICES, STAFF TIME, ADVERTISING, ETC. THE PROPOSED FEES ARE NOT <br />AS -MUCH AS SOME OF THOSE CHARGED BY THE CITY OF VERO BEACH, MISS <br />LANCASTER STATED THAT THESE PROPOSED FEES WERE PRESENTED AT THE <br />PLANNING & ZONING COMMISS MEETING, AND THE -'P & Z COMMISSION <br />.,JJ&- � _ a <br />
