<br />Community Development Director Bob Keating presented this request to the <br />Board using a PowerPoint presentation (copy on file). The site is south of N. Gifford Road <br />rd <br />and W of 43 Avenue. The purpose for this request is to change the zoning from General <br />Industrial to Light Industrial to allow more light industrial uses than general industrial uses. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend that the Board <br />change the zoning as requested. General Industrial is the only zoning district that allows <br />uses as intense as auto/salvage yards, and this property is surrounded on three sides by <br />auto/salvage yards. Mr. Keating answered questions by the Commissioners regarding the <br />differences in the types of industrial zoning. <br /> <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Rose Smith <br />, living to the south side of this property, spoke in favor of this <br />issue <br />Shannon Cook <br />, 1868 Shuman Drive, advocated the adoption of this <br />ordinance. <br />th <br />Freddie Woolfork, <br />4590 57 Avenue, advocated the adoption of this <br />ordinance especially since the site is located in the Gifford area, inside the Enterprise Zone. <br />There were no additional speakers and the Chairman closed the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lowther, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Davis, by a 4-0 vote, the Board adopted <br />Ordinance 2006-016, amending the zoning ordinance and <br />the accompanying zoning map for +/- .52 acres located at <br />th <br />the southwest quadrant of the intersection of 45 Street and <br />th <br />45 Avenue from IG, General Industrial District, to IL, <br />Light Industrial District; and providing codification, <br />severability, and effective date. <br />June 13, 2006 <br />13 <br /> <br />
