Commission; providing for codification; providing for <br />severability; and providing for an effective date. <br />Vice Chair Bowden MOVED to retain the three individuals <br />currently working, and to move forward with the five <br />Commission Assistant positions, with two new Assistants <br />being "at will"; and to direct staff to research how other <br />counties structure the position of Office Coordinator, <br />whether it falls under the Board of Commissioners or <br />County Administrator. MOTION DIED for lack of a <br />second <br />Commissioner Davis did not agree with the two new employees being "at will." Chairman <br />Wheeler did not think it was prudent to add additional staff until the State Legislative Session <br />ends. He was opposed to the "at will" employees, and noted that all of the numbers being <br />discussed were based on the salary of the Executive Aide position, which no longer exists. <br />Lengthy discussion ensued among the Commissioners, Administrator Baird and Mr. Sexton <br />regarding how to handle overtime in the future, and whether to place the Commissioner Assistants <br />under Commissioner or County jurisdiction. <br />MOTION WAS AMENDED by Vice Chair Bowden, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Davis, to retain the three <br />individuals currently working, and to move forward with <br />the five Commissioner Assistant positions, with two new <br />Assistants, in the interim; put staff under the County <br />Administrator, not "at will", and to direct staff to bring back <br />more information on the budgetary and structural <br />June 19, 2007 25 <br />
