Commissioner O'Bryan stated that he had been informed by Ms. McGowan's neighbors, <br />that even after she was noticed of the violation, pickup trucks continued dumping more debris <br />onto the subject property. <br />Commissioner Solari remarked that one of the most disturbing aspects of this situation <br />was that after notification, the problem continued to worsen. <br />Susan McGowan informed the Commissioners that she is no longer accepting the scrap, <br />and has been working to remove the pile. She apologized to the citizens of Vero Beach, and <br />asked for an extension of time to be able to complete the clean up. <br />Commissioner O'Bryan appreciated Ms. McGowan's efforts; however, he suggested <br />going with staff's recommendation. He pointed out that since the Court Order would not be <br />sought until June 8, 2009, she would have a little over a week to sort things out. <br />Community Development Director Robert Keating responding to Vice Chairman Davis' <br />query, reported that the Road and Bridge Department would likely be the agent for removing the <br />debris, which action could commence a few days subsequent to obtaining the Court Order. <br />A brief discussion ensued as Vice Chairman Flescher and staff acknowledged Mrs. <br />McGowan's recent attempts to reduce the pile. Mrs. McGowan revealed that the pile had been <br />cleared down level with the fence, but reiterated that a week would not be sufficient to complete <br />her work. <br />ON MOTION BY Commissioner O'Bryan, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Solari, the Board unanimously approved <br />Alternative 2, to direct staff to seek a Court Order to allow <br />staff access to the subject property to abate the nuisance, <br />authorizing the County's employees, servants, agents or <br />16 <br />June 2, 2009 <br />
