Jennings <br />Indian River County Administrator <br />2145 - 14th Avenue <br />Vero Beach, Florida 3296o <br />Dear Mr. Jennings: <br />This letter is in response to your previous request for authorization <br />to modify the signal control equipment at the subject intersection ro <br />allot) for exclusive left -turn indications for traffic making; left turns <br />from State Road 5. <br />Analysis of recent traffic volume data indicates that left -turning <br />volumes are not high enough to exceed the capacity for left turns on <br />either approach to 12tH Street. Therefore, in consideration of <br />volumes of traffic,.the installation of separate left -turn indicatior <br />for State Road 5 traffic at the subject intersection is not warranted <br />at the present time. <br />Accident data for the period from January 1978 to August 1979 wi--, <br />analyzed for the subject intersection. Although several lei7t-tu1-nip,, <br />accidents occurred during 1975, our information i-aciicates that this t: t <br />of collision had virtually coaled during 1979. Therefore, it ap-o.trs <br />that the left -turning accident problem either no longer exist,, <br />very irregular.
