Under discussion, Chairman Ginn was very pleased to see this coming forward. She <br />had discussed parts of this proposed draft agreement with County Administrator Baird and Utility <br />Services Director Erik Olson and she believed they understood what she perceived as problems. <br />She wanted to send the message to St. Lucie County that the Board is very much in favor of an <br />interlocal agreement but with the understanding that some modifications are necessary. <br />Utility Services Director Erik Olson explained that this draft agreement is before <br />them so St. Lucie County can determine the number of participants in order to figure costs. Staff <br />plans to take this to the July 1st Utility Advisory Committee meeting and then bring back the final <br />th <br />version to the July 15 Board meeting. He understood other participants, such as the City of Vero <br />Beach, are waiting to see what the County decides. <br />Vice Chairman Neuberger reported that members of the Gifford Progressive League <br />are extremely pleased. <br />County Administrator Baird suggested the Board approve this agreement in concept <br />and allow staff to make changes <br /> <br />MOTION WAS AMENDED by Commissioner Lowther, <br />and ACCEPTED by Vice Chairman Neuberger, to approve <br />the draft agreement in concept and direct staff to make the <br />necessary changes. <br /> <br />Once all agreements are in place, it will be 24 months before St. Lucie County will <br />be able to accept sludge. Indian River County is the key and major participant in this process. <br /> <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and it carried <br />unanimously.
