14.A.3. PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR TWO REPLACEMENT FIRE <br />TRUCKS ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS - PIERCE <br />MANUFACTURING, INC. (LAKE CO. CONTRACT #99-150) <br />Emergency Services Director John King explained that there are only two major <br />manufacturers for fire trucks. Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. is located in Wisconsin and he uses <br />them because they offer a better price and service. They have factory representatives throughout <br />the State of Florida and repairs are handled within 24 to 48 hours. The other manufacturer is <br />located in Ocala, Florida and he has heard that it is difficult to get service, let alone a return <br />phone call from them. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lowther, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously (4-0, Vice Chairman <br />Ginn was absent) approved the purchase agreement of one (1) Enforce <br />Pumper and one (1) Enforcer Aerial Ladder Truck on a sole source basis <br />from Pierce Manufacturing at a total price of $805,102, using the Lake <br />County Contract (Bid 99-150). Staff will return to the Board prior to <br />taking delivery of the two (2) replacement fire trucks to present another <br />agenda item detailing the best available financial package for the <br />lease/purchase agreement. <br />July 1, 2003 <br />CONTRACT WILL BE ON FILE IN THE <br />OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />WHEN EXECUTED AND RECEIVED <br />ALL BACKUP DOCUMENTATION IS ON FILE IN THE <br />OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD AND <br />IS HEREBY MADE A PART OF THESE MINUTES <br />2 <br />E.S.D. <br />
