Ms. McKenzie reported that the Workforce system had been united under one logo and <br />name, Workforce Solutions, and that there were three new sites in operation - a Business Service <br />Center on 82nd Avenue; a Mobile Unit on 25h Street; and an Outreach at 2525 St. Lucie Avenue. <br />She read the highlights of the Workforce Solutions Annual Report (copy on file), and discussed <br />future goals for the program, which included having its new website, <br />www.yourworkforcesolutions, serve as the primary portal for employers and job seekers to <br />access Workforce services. <br />Chairman Davis spoke of the excellent services provided by the Mobile Unit which was <br />situated around the corner from the County Administration Building. <br />Ms. Thompson thanked the Board for its cooperation with Workforce Solutions, and <br />additionally recognized for her assistance, Helene Caseltine, member of the Workforce Solutions <br />Board, and Economic Development Director for the Indian River Chamber of Commerce. <br />Responding to requests from Vice Chairman Flescher and Commissioner O'Bryan respectively, <br />she described Workforce Solution's new facility on 82nd Avenue, and provided details on the <br />Best Places to Work program. Concluding, Ms. Thompson related that Workforce Solutions was <br />seeking another, larger location to accommodate the increased number of people needing <br />employment services, and asked anyone knowing of an available site to notify her. <br />Freddie Woolfork, Gifford Youth Activities Center (GYAC), thanked the <br />Commissioners for being supportive of the GYAC, and for allowing the young people to come to <br />the Chambers and watch local government in action, and to show their appreciation for Father <br />Murphy. <br />The Chairman called a break at 9:26 a.m. and reconvened the meeting at 9:28 a.m. <br />F <br />July 14, 2009 <br />
