COMMISSIONER WODTKE COMMENTED THAT THIS IS PROBABLY THE <br />MOST IRREGULAR SHAPED PROPERTY THE BOARD EVER HAS CONSIDERED AND <br />THOUGH HE COULD SEE SOME DIFFICULT DEVELOPMENT PROBLEMS, HE FELT <br />THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT THAT THE TOP HALF BE <br />R-1 AND THE BOTTOM HALF R-213 WAS COMPATIBLE WITH THE AREA. <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER LYONS TO DENY THE PROPOSED <br />REZONING FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: <br />(1) IT IS WEST OF THE SO-CALLED PRIMARY CITRUS LINE; <br />(2) THERE IS ADEQUATE PROPERTY AVAILABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT ZONED IN <br />THIS CATEGORY; <br />(3) ANY SUCH ZONING IS PREMATURE; <br />(4) IT WAS NOT RECOMMENDED BY THE ZONING BOARD; AND <br />(5) HE FELT TO REZONE THIS PIECE OF PROPERTY WITH ITS VERY IRREGULAR <br />BOUNDARIES, WOULD CREATE MORE PROBLEMS. <br />MOTION DIED FOR LACK OF A SECOND. <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER Loy, SECONDED BY COMMIS- <br />SIONER WODTKE, TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 80-19 APPROVING THE CHANGES RECOM- <br />MENDED BY THE PLANNING STAFF - THE TOP SECTION TO R-1 AND THE LOWER <br />SECTION TO R-213 FOR THE REASON THAT SUCH REZONING IS IN THE OVERALL <br />BEST INTERESTS OF THE COUNTY. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE COMMENTED THAT THERE IS R-1 TO THE <br />SOUTH AND WEST AND ADDITIONAL R-1 ZONING FURTHER WEST. HE FELT THE <br />REZONING IS THE HIGHEST AND BEST USE OF THE LAND BASED ON THE <br />SURROUNDING PROPERTY AND FELT THAT IS ALL THIS BOARD REALLY HAS A <br />RIGHT TO CONSIDER. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
