Commissioner Bowden was dismayed that no one outside of the government <br />appeared to have knowledge of the Murphy Reservations, and did not feel that the property <br />owners could be penalized. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Vice Chairman Davis, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wheeler, to approve <br />staff's Recommendation No. 4, to ignore the Murphy <br />Reservation and pay the full appraised value of the <br />properties along 66th Avenue. <br />Assistant County Administrator Michael Zito suggesting exploring a title <br />insurance claim in each individual case. <br />Motion WAS AMENDED by Vice Chairman Davis, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wheeler, to approve <br />staff's Recommendation No. 4, to ignore the Murphy <br />Reservation and pay the full appraised value of the <br />properties along 66th Avenue, and to explore title <br />insurance claims where possible. <br />The Chairman opened the floor for further public input. <br />Charlene Brown, 5145 66th Avenue, read a statement detailing her reasons for <br />opposing the County's utilization of the Murphy Reservations. She noted that her family had <br />been paying taxes on their 60h Avenue property since 1944, and pointed out that many other <br />landowners on 66th Avenue had also been there for a long time. She pointed out that the County <br />has already compensated other landowners for Murphy Reservations, and declared that all <br />landowners should be treated fairly.
