<br />VanVonno <br />Director used a PowerPoint presentation (copy on file) to illustrate <br />Martin County’s planning initiatives. She summarized development patterns, study issues, what <br />Martin County is currently doing, protection of waterfront commercial lands, CRA <br />implementation, and the Rural Heritage Land Use Designation. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued on commercial waterfront property, rural land designation, the <br />MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization) study, and lands in public ownership. <br /> <br />(CLERK’S NOTE: The Chairman called for a recess at 10:45 a.m. and <br />reconvened the meeting at 10:50 a.m. with all members present.) <br /> <br />8. JAIL PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />IRCGSDTF <br />NDIAN IVER OUNTY ENERAL ERVICE IRECTOR OM RAME <br /> <br />General Services Director Tom Frame used a PowerPoint presentation (copy on <br />file) to illustrate the history, land acquisition, and needs assessment plan for the County’s <br />correctional facility. His report included cost estimates, construction timing, consideration of <br />Hillsborough County’s facility, and Board approvals regarding the new jail. <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis questioned the current population of the Indian River County <br />McMullen <br />Jail and Sheriff’s Captain stated there are 549 inmates currently in jail. <br /> <br />Director Frame explained that to fill the gap in the underestimated jail population <br />growth, the County is looking at reevaluating the budget. <br /> <br />August 16, 2005 5 <br />Joint Workshop with Martin County <br /> <br />
