SHAY 7 1980 } sooK 43 476 <br />UTILITY DIRECTOR GEORGE LINER DISCUSSED THE PEBBLE RAY <br />SEWER SYSTEM AND REPORTED THAT THE WORK TO BE DONE WAS BROKEN INTO <br />TWO GROUPS - THE LIFT STATION WORK, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED FOR BIDS, <br />AND THE REPAIRS TO THE PEBBLE BAY PLANT. HE INFORMED.THE BOARD THAT <br />THE BIDS WERE ADVERTISED IN THE VERO BEACH PRESS JOURNAL: PLANS AND <br />SPECIFICATIONS WERE SENT TO THE DODGE REPORT IN SEVERAL CITIES: AND <br />BID INVITATIONS WERE SENT TO 26 CONTRACTORS. MR. LINER CONTINUED <br />THAT THEX HAD ONLY ONE RESPONSE, AND IT WAS THREE TIMES WHAT WAS <br />ANTICIPATED. ITEMS I - 6, WHICH COMPRISE EVERYTHING BUT THE VERA <br />CRUZ LIFT STATION, WERE BID AT $236,$00, AND THE LIFT STATION WAS <br />BID AT $96,000, OR A TOTAL OF $332,500. HE REPORTED THAT THE <br />ENGINEERS RECOMMEND WE REJECT THE BID. MR. LINER QUESTIONED WHETHER <br />WE NOW CAN GO TO NEGOTIATIONS WITH A CONTRACTOR SINCE THE BID RE- <br />QUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN FULFILLED. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS STATED THAT CANNOT BE DONE, AND IT WILL <br />BE NECESSARY TO REPROCESS AND READVERTISE. <br />MR. LINER NOTED THAT THEY PLAN TO DISCUSS WITH THE CON- <br />TRACTORS WHO HAVE NOT BID, THE REASON THEY DID NOT. <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT SO MANY <br />INVITATIONS WENT OUT AND THE CONTRACTORS DID NOT BID, WHICH LED HIM <br />TO BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING IN THE SPECIFICATIONS MAY REQUIRE SOME <br />SLIGHT REVISION. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DEESON, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />LOY, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY REJECTED THE BID RECEIVED ON THE PEBBLE <br />BAY SEWER SYSTEM, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CONSULTING ENGINEERS. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LYONS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />Loy, THE -BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED UTILITY DIRECTOR LINER TO <br />REVISE SPECIFICATIONS AND READVERTISE FOR BIDS ON THE PEBBLE RAY <br />SEWER SYSTEM <br />MR. LINER INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE SECOND PART CONCERNS <br />THE WORK TO BE DONE ON THE PLANT ITSELF. THE ENGINEERS HAVE ESTI- <br />MATED $15,000 TOTAL FOR THAT WORK, AND THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE <br />BUDGET. <br />
