PELLEGRINO INFORMED HIM THAT YOU CAN PAY PEOPLE IN CASH <br />IF THEY DON T USE SICK LEAVE, DADE COUNTY DOES THIS. <br />DISCUSSION FOLLOWED AS TO WHETHER YOU HAVE TO HAVE CHARTER <br />GOVERNMENT TO DO THIS, AND MR. PELLEGRINO STATED THAT ALL THE BOARD <br />HAS TO DO IS MAKE THIS A POLICY AND IT CAN BE DONE RIGHT NOW. PELLEGRINO FELT UNDER THAT CRITERIA, YOU <br />COULDN°T PAY THEM FOR HOLIDAYS EITHER. HE CONTINUED THAT HALF OF THE <br />CITIES AND COUNTIES IN FLORIDA ARE FOLLOWING THE POLICY OF PAYING <br />PEOPLE A PORTION OF THEIR UNUSED SICK LEAVE. IT IS LEGAL. <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS STATED THAT IF THERE IS A WAY SUCH <br />A POLICY COULD BE INCLUDED, HE WOULD BE IN FAVOR OF IT. HE NOTED <br />THAT UNDER OUR PRESENT SYSTEM, YOU ACTUALLY GIVE IO DAYS PAY TO SOME <br />PEOPLE WHEN OTHERS ARE WORKING THOSE SAME 10 DAYS AND NOT GETTING <br />ANYTHING FOR IT. <br />CHAIRMAN SIEBERT COMMENTED THAT 7.06 A COULD BE CHANGED <br />JUST TO READ THAT EMPLOYEES WITH TEN YEARS OR MORE SERVICE SHALL BE <br />PAID HALF OF UNUSED MEDICAL LEAVE CREDIT TO A MAXIMUM OF 240 HOURS. <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS STATED THAT HE WOULD LIKE THAT CHAPTER <br />TO BE REVIEWED BECAUSE SICK LEAVE IS ONE OF THE MOST ABUSED POLICIES <br />THE COUNTY HAS. HE SUGGESTED`-WE.MIGHT STATE THAT THE EMPLOYEE SHALL <br />s <br />BE PAID FOR UNUSED MEDICAL LEAVE TIME AFTER THEY HAVE ACCUMULATED <br />60 DAYS SICK LEAVE. <br />COMMISSIONER LOY AGREED THAT THIS SECTION SHOULD BE EXPLORED <br />AND REWORKED AS JUST DISCUSSED BECAUSE WE NEED TO CREATE AN INCENTIVE <br />SO PEOPLE DO NOT MISUSE SICK LEAVE. <br />L- <br />73 <br />MOK . 43 <br />
