Commissioner Macht agreed. <br /> <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Macht, <br />SECONDED BY Commissioner Lowther to deny staff’s <br />recommendation and extend the lease to 2054. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued and the Chairman thought the Clinic should consider purchasing <br />the property from the County. She felt that leasing the property at market value or for the selling <br />price would avoid complaints of favoritism and asked Administrator Baird to get an appraisal to <br />determine the market value. <br />Commissioner Macht pointed out the clinic’s distinction is that they care for the <br />indigent. <br /> <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />failed by a 2-3 vote, Chairman Ginn, Commissioner <br />Lowther and Commissioner Adams opposed. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Lowther, the Board unanimously approved <br />delaying the decision for 3-4 weeks to allow the County <br />Administrator to explore all options and dollar values for <br />this property, get an appraisal of the land, and bring this <br />item back to the Board. <br /> <br />The Chairman called for a short recess at 10:04 a.m. and reconvened the meeting at <br />10:13 a.m. with all members present. <br />AUGUST 24, 2004 <br />14 <br /> <br />
