JUN 2 5 19 80 Boa 43 PAGE 885' <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE PROPERTY HAS <br />BEEN SURVEYED AND A LEGAL DESCRIPTION DRAWN UP DIVIDING THE PROPERTY <br />BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND F.I.T. HE NOTED THAT ALTHOUGH THE SHAPES ARE <br />UNUSUAL, IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN A MORE EQUITABLE DIVISION. THE <br />COUNTY WILL RETAIN THE 50' ACCESS ROAD TO THE TRACKING STATION PROP- <br />ERTY AND THE WESTERLY PART, PLUS A NORTHERN TRIANGLE LYING NORTH OF <br />THE FIVE ACRES PREVIOUSLY ACQUIRED. THIS ALL ADDS UP TO A SUBSTAN- <br />TIAL PORTION OF OCEANFRONT PROPERTY THAT WOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO <br />THE PUBLIC. THE ATTORNEY NOTED THAT MR. ADAMS AND VICE CHAIRMAN Loy <br />FEEL THE CREATION OF A PARK AND AN OCEANOGRAPHY INSTITUTION ARE COM- <br />PATIBLE AND THAT THEY CAN WORK WELL WITH ONE ANOTHER IN INTEGRATING <br />GOALS, AS REQUESTED BY G.S.A. HE CONTINUED THAT F.I.T. IN THEIR <br />APPLICATION HAS SET CERTAIN GOALS TO ACHIEVE BASICALLY WITHIN A <br />FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THESE GOALS INCLUDE A MULTI -FUNCTION BUILDING <br />WHICH WOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE, UNDER COLLEGE CONTROL, TO THE USE OF <br />THE COMMUNITY, I.E., LECTURE SERIES, AUDUBON SOCIETY, ETC., AND THE <br />AVAILABILITY OF A STRUCTURE OF THAT MAGNITUDE ON THE BEACH SHOULD <br />HAVE A TREMENDOUS IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY. ATTORNEY COLLINS EX- <br />PLAINED THAT THE AGREEMENT HAS VERBIAGE WHICH CREATES A SITUATION ... <br />WHERE THE COLLEGE AND THE COUNTY WILL WORK TOGETHER AND FUNCTION <br />TOGETHER FOR THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY AND COMMITS <br />THE ENTIRE PROPERTY, F.I.T.'S AND THE COUNTY'S, TO BE USED FOR <br />EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. <br />MR. ADAMS CONCURRED THAT THE INTENT OF THE AGREEMENT IS <br />VERY WELL SPELLED OUT AND STATED THAT THEY ARE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE <br />THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF F.I.T. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE ASKED, IF WE APPROVE THE AGREEMENT.- <br />HOW <br />GREEMENT, <br />HOW WE HANDLE AMENDING OUR APPLICATION, AND ATTORNEY COLLINS ANTICI- <br />PATED THAT BOTH GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WOULD REQUEST THAT WE FILE <br />SIMPLE AMENDMENTS CONFORMING TO OUR AGREEMENT. <br />VICE CHAIRMAN LOY NOTED THAT F.I.T. AND THE COUNTY WOULD <br />BE FILING IDENTICAL AGREEMENTS. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE INQUIRED IF WE ARE PAST THE PERIOD <br />WHEN ANYONE ELSE CAN MAKE AN APPLICATION FOR THIS PROPERTY, AND <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS STATED THAT THERE ARE ONLY TWO VESTED APPLICATIONS - <br />ONE IS THE COUNTY'S AND ONE IS F.I.T."S. <br />
