FOR ELECTRICAL WIRING AND SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR ROOF MOUNTS. <br />HE THEN WENT ON TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEMS INVOLVED WITH THE CEILINGS <br />AND THE DUCTS AND STATED WE COULD HAVE CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING IN <br />THE WHOLE SOUTH END BY GOING TO A 7-1/2 TON AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE WONDERED WHY THE BOARD HAS TO DISCUSS <br />THESE THINGS WHEN THEY ARE PAYING AN ARCHITECT. <br />MR. KONTOULAS EXPLAINED THE PROCEDURE IS THAT HE HAS TO <br />WRITE ALL THESE THINGS UP AS CHANGE ORDER PROPOSALS TO THE ARCHITECTS; <br />THEY THEN WRITE TO THE CONTRACTOR WHO PRICES THEM OUT; AND IT EVENTU- <br />ALLY COMES BACK TO HIM. THIS ALL TAKES THREE TO SIX WEEKS. <br />COMMISSIONER LYONS EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT THESE PROPOSED <br />CHANGES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED BY THE LAWYER'S ASSOCIATION, AND HE DID <br />NOT KNOW HOW THEY FIT IN WITH THE BUILDING. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE STATED THAT THE ONLY PROBLEM HE HAS IS <br />WITH THE WALL THAT ALREADY HAS BEEN STUDDED IN. HE AGREED THAT WE <br />NEED THE JUDGE, THE JURY, THE PRESS AND THE ATTORNEYS, BUT HE DID <br />NOT SEE THE NEED TO HAVE ROOM TO PUT IN HUNDREDS OF SPECTATORS, NOR <br />DID HE SEE THE BENEFIT OF MOVING IN AND TEARING OUT WHAT HAS BEEN DONE. <br />MR. KONTOULAS COMMENTED THAT HE HAD DISCUSSED THIS WITH <br />JUDGE SMITH AND APPARENTLY THE ONLY REASON FOR ENLARGING THE COURT - <br />ROOM IS TO GET A LARGER AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION. HE ALSO PREFERRED <br />NOT TO MOVE THE WALL ALREADY STUDDED IN, ESPECIALLY AS IT WOULD <br />AFFECT THE LIGHTING. HE NOTED THAT IF THE BOARD DID NOT WISH TO <br />APPROVE ALL THESE ITEMS AT THIS TIME, THEY COULD SIMPLY INSTRUCT HIM <br />TO WRITE THEM UP AS CHANGE ORDER PROPOSALS TO THE ARCHITECT AND HAVE <br />THEM PRICED OUT. HE NOTED, HOWEVER, THAT THE WORK GOES ON IN THE <br />MEANTIME, AND EVERY TIME WE HAVE TO DELAY, IT COSTS MORE. <br />COMMISSIONER LYONS ALSO FELT THAT EXPANDING THE ONE COURT - <br />ROOM WAS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS SOME OF THE OTHER ITEMS, WHICH COULD BE <br />ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT HAVING TO BACK UP. <br />MR. KONTOULAS CONCURRED THAT THE OTHER ITEMS WOULD INVOLVE <br />MORE MINOR CHANGES AND FURTHER NOTED THAT THE 2-1/2 TON AIR CONDI- <br />TIONING UNIT WHICH HAS BEEN PURCHASED CAN BE RETURNED. <br />59 <br />JUR 2 51980 <br />BOOK U .
