However, the County was investigating a new <br />method, which the DEP feels could work. <br />Commissioner Davis agreed with Administrator Baird, and supported Vice Chair <br />Bowden's concept of having independent monitoring. <br />Vice Chair Bowden reiterated her stance that there should be no mitigation on the <br />Lost Tree Islands. <br />Commissioner Wheeler praised Director Olson for his excellent work, but also felt <br />that strong consideration should be given to Dr. Gilmore's concerns. Commissioner <br />Wheeler conveyed that if the County instituted the project, it should be done right, improve <br />the ecology, and not damage the fisheries. <br />Commissioner O'Bryan supported proceeding, in close cooperation with the <br />environmental groups, with the Spoonbill Marsh Project. For the record, Commissioner <br />O'Bryan stated that he would be in favor of looking at the Lost Tree Islands if the County <br />needs to go to mitigation, as he felts that the land could be improved. <br />(Clerk's Note: Attorney Collins exited the meeting at 12:44 p.m.) <br />Former Commissioner Caroline Ginn, 1134 Olde Galleon Lane, spoke in favor of <br />the Spoonbill Marsh Project.
