AUG 14 1980
BOOK 44 PACE 334
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS RECONVENED AT 2:25 O'CLOCK
P.M. WITH THE SAME MEMBERS PRESENT.
': 11. : = :111►:. ► ..
ATTORNEY COLLINS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE PROPERTY AP-
PRAISER HAS INDICATED AN ASSESSED VALUE FOR THE AREA INCLUDED IN THE
SOUTH BEACH WATER MUNICIPAL SERVICE TAXING UNIT OF $6,925,830, AND,
THEREFORE, ONE MILL WOULD RAISE $6,900. THE ATTORNEY CONTINUED THAT
THE INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY THE ENGINEERS ESTIMATED THE COST TO TAKE
A 12" LINE 2400' SOUTH OF THE STUB DOWN TO TAMARAC LANE WOULD BE
$104,953. TWENTY-TWO OF THE 27 EXISTING RESIDENCES ARE LOCATED WITHIN
THAT AREA. HE REPORTED THAT HE ALSO HAS FIGURES FOR TAKING THE LINE
ALL THE WAY TO THE SOUTH COUNTY LINE, WHICH IS AN ADDITIONAL 5,500',
AND NOTED THAT THE BOARD HAS THE ABILITY TO LEVY UP TO A 3 MILL CAP.
COMMISSIONER LYONS DISCUSSED RAISING FUNDS BY THE ASSESS-
MENT METHOD. HE COMMENTED THAT THE EXISTING RESIDENTS VERY MUCH
DESIRE WATER, AND IT APPARENTLY WOULD COST THEM SOMETHING LESS THAN
$5,000 APIECE.
ATTORNEY COLLINS NOTED THAT THE ENGINEERS FIGURED THE COST
BASED ON A 12" LINE IN ORDER TO MEET FUTURE NEEDS; THAT ALSO WOULD BE
THE MINIMUM SIZE TO SUPPLY THE CAPACITY NECESSARY FOR FIRE HYDRANTS,
COMMISSIONER WODTKE STATED THAT HE WAS IN FAVOR OF PUTTING
IN THE LARGE LINE IF WE DO ANYTHING, AND HE BELIEVED IT WOULD JUSTIFY
THE LEVY ON THE PROPERTY.
ATTORNEY COLLINS SUGGESTED THAT THE BOARD 00 AHEAD WITH A
3 MILL LEVY.
CHAIRMAN SIEBERT DISCUSSED LEVYING J. MILL AND GOING TO THE
ASSESSMENT ROLL.
ATTORNEY COLLINS POINTED OUT THAT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE THE
ASSESSMENT GOING UP THE STREETS, BUT WHAT WE NOW ARE TALKING ABOUT IS
THE MAIN LINE DOWN; HE NOTED THAT YOU CAN HAVE AN ASSESSMENT ON THE
LINE DOWN AS WELL AS ASSESSMENTS ON THE STREETS GOING OFF THE MAIN
LINE.
_ = 14
