OCT 2 21900 BOOK r 46 PAGE' 60 <br />CHANGE ORDERS - RENOVATION COURTHOUSE & ADMIMINISTRATION BUILDING <br />CONSTRUCTION PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE HERCULES KONTOULAS <br />CAME BEFORE THE BOARD TO REVIEW CHANGE OkbE-k #3 ON THE RENOVATION <br />OF THE COURTHOUSE. HE NOTED THAT THIS CHANGE ORDER CONTAINS SIX <br />ITEMS. ITEM I CONCERNS EXISTING EXHAUST LOUVERS THAT ARE NO LONGER <br />IN USE AND BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF NOISE, THESE ARE TO BE <br />CLOSED UP. MR. KONTOULAS RECOMMENDED THE APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM, <br />AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER ITEMS ON THE CHANGE ORDER. <br />ITEM 2 CALLS FOR RELOCATING TOILETS FROM THE ORIGINAL PLANS. <br />THIS WAS IN CONJUNCTION WITH ONE OF JUDGE SMITH`S REQUEST LETTERS. <br />IN THE ORIGINAL PLANS, WE ALLOTTED NEW TOILETS FOR EACH JUDGE S OFFICE, <br />ONE RESTROOM FOR THE SECRETARIES, AND ONE FOR THE JURY ROOMS. THEY <br />REQUIRE TWO RESTROOMS FOR THE JURY ROOMS, AND THESE WERE MOVED BACK <br />TO BACK. <br />CHAIRMAN SIEBERT ASKED IF THIS IS A VERY LARGE MATTER TO <br />THE CONTRACTOR, AND MR. KONTOULAS STATED THAT ACTUALLY IT IS CHEAPER <br />TO HAVE THE TOILETS BACK TO BACK. <br />DISCUSSION FOLLOWED ON THE CHARGES INVOLVED IN THIS CHANGE, <br />AND MR. KONTOULAS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE ORIGINAL COST FOR THE <br />CHANGE WAS AROUND $5,000, AND AFTER GOING OVER THIS THREE TIMES, <br />THEY HAVE GOTTEN THE COST DOWN TO $3,533. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE COMMENTED ON A CHARGE OF 4% FLORIDA <br />SALES TAX ON MATERIALS AND ASKED IF WE PAY SALES TAX ON MATERIALS <br />WE ARE PUTTING IN THE COURTHOUSE. <br />ADMINISTRATOR NELSON NOTED THAT WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY IT <br />IF THE COUNTY WERE ITS OWN CONTRACTOR, BUT REINHOLD IS CHARGING US <br />FOR THE TAX HE HAS TO PAY. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE DID NOT FEEL THAT REINHOLD SHOULD HAVE <br />TO PAY THIS TAX WHEN BUYING FOR THE COUNTY; ATTORNEY COLLINS WAS OF <br />THE OPINION THAT IF THE CONTRACTOR HAS TO GQ IN THE MARKETPLACE <br />AND BUY, HE HAS TO PAY THE SALES TAX. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE WAS NOT CONVINCED AND REQUESTED THAT <br />THIS BE CHECKED INTO FURTHER. <br />CHAIRMAN SIEBERT INQUIRED ABOUT THE CHANGE IN DIMENSIONS <br />NOTED IN ITEM 2 OF CHANGE ORDER 3. <br />AM <br />
