MR. THOMAS FELT -THE METHOD OF <br />HAVING A GENERAL OBLIGATION NOTE FOR $300,000 WAS THE MOST ACCEPTABLE <br />METHOD OF FINANCING THE ENGINEERING AND OTHER COSTS PERTAINING TO <br />THE EXTENSION OF INDIAN RIVER BOULEVARD, <br />COMMISSIONER FLETCHER COMMENTED THAT HE HAD NO PROBLEM <br />PAYING WHAT THE PREVIOUS BOARD HAD COMMITTED, BUT HE WAS OPPOSED TO <br />THE INDIAN RIVER BOULEVARD EXTENSION PROJECT. <br />DISCUSSION FOLLOWED ABOUT THE PROJECT. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS ELABORATED ON WHAT THE ENGINEERS FELT WAS <br />THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO HANDLE THE DRAINAGE IN THE COUNTRY CLUB <br />POINTE AREA. <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK, SECONDED BY COM- <br />MISSIONER BIRD, THAT THE BOARD GO FORWARD AND CONTINUE WITH THE <br />INDIAN RIVER BOULEVARD EXTENSION PROJECT, AND ASKED FOR A ROLL CALL <br />VOTE. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED THE ROLL AND THE VOTE WAS AS FOLLOWS: <br />AYES: COMMISSIONER WODTKE <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS <br />NAYES: COMMISSIONER FLETCHER <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS STATED THAT HIS REASON WAS THAT THIS ROAD WAS <br />AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR TOTAL ROAD PATTERN, AND THE COUNTY NEEDED THAT <br />BY-PASS TO U.S.#1; IT IS GOING TO SERVE THE 6TH AVENUE AREA; AND IT <br />WILL BE A LINK TO GIFFORD, THE CHAIRMAN STRESSED THAT IT IS TIME THAT <br />THE COUNTY RELIEVED SOME OF THE TRAFFIC ON U.S. #1.
