ON LOTION BY COMMISSIONER WODTKE, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />BIRD, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING <br />FEBRUARY AS SCOUTING ANNIVERSARY MONTH. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS CALLED RAY REDSTONE BEFORE THE BOARD AND <br />READ ALOUD THE PROCLAMATION; THEN PRESENTED IT TO HIM. <br />MR. REDSTONE EXPRESSED HIS THANKS TO THE BOARD, <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the success of Scouting for Cub Scouts, <br />Boy Scouts, and Explorers depends on our community organi- <br />zations; and <br />WHEREAS, there are churches and synagogues, <br />schools and parent -teacher associations, service and <br />fraternal clubs, and other community organizations that <br />have been chartered in our area by the Boy Scouts of <br />America to use the Scouting program; and <br />WHEREAS, the volunteer leaders selected by <br />these chartered organizations are performing an outstand- <br />ing service for boys and young men and women; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River District of the Boy <br />Scouts of America and its corps of dedicated volunteer <br />leaders are providing necessary support to the leaders <br />in the 5 Cub Scout packs, 9 Coy Scout troops,, and 5 <br />Exulorer posts, with a total membership of 577: <br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of <br />County Commissioners of Indian River County, extend <br />sincere appreciation to our community organizations <br />that use the Scouting program and to their volunteer <br />leaders; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of <br />County Commissioners of Indian River County proclaim <br />the month of February, 1981, as Scouting Anniversary <br />Month and urge our citizens to join with them in <br />expressing appreciation to the community organizations <br />and their volunteer Scouting leaders for bringing the <br />Wonderful World of Scouting to our young people. <br />B L YD tJ S <br />Chairman <br />Board of County Com iss oners <br />Indian River County <br />JAN 281981 5 <br />_: 45c 7 <br />
