CASSARA HAD INTENDED TO DEDICATE <br />THE STREETS, ETC., TO THE COUNTY, BUT IF IT IS THE COMMISSIONS WISH <br />NOT TO ACCEPT THESE STREETS, THEY THEN WILL PROCEED WITH PRIVATE <br />STREETS. <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK INQUIRED ABOUT THE SITUATION WHERE <br />THERE IS ONLY ONE ROAD IN AND OUT OF A SUBDIVISION AND WHETHER THESE <br />ROADS ARE GENERALLY DEDICATED TO THE COUNTY. <br />ADMINISTRATOR NELSON STATED THAT WE HAVE ACCEPTED SOME IN <br />THE PAST, COLONIAL TERRACE BEING A GOOD EXAMPLE, BUT HE DOES NOT <br />AGREE WITH THIS PRACTICE. <br />COMMISSIONER FLETCHER FELT WE DONT HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DO <br />THIS,AND THE CHAIRMAN AGREED. IN FURTHER DISCUSSION, THE BOARD FELT <br />WE MUST BE CONSISTENT AND SHOULD SET A POLICY. <br />PLANNING DIRECTOR REVER NOTED THAT THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />WOULD LIKE A POLICY TO BE SET IN THIS REGARD AS THERE HASNIT BEEN <br />ONE BEFORE. <br />COMMISSIONER FLETCHER FELT IF THE DEVELOPER CHOOSES TO PLAT <br />A PIECE OF PROPERTY AND HAVE ONLY ONE INGRESS AND EGRESS, OBVIOUSLY <br />HE WANTS TO KEEP IT PRIVATE OR TO HAVE AS MANY LOTS AS POSSIBLE. HE <br />NOTED THE ONLY PEOPLE -USING THOSE ROADS WILL BE THE PEOPLE LIVING <br />THERE BECAUSE THERE IS NO THROUGH TRAFFIC AND HE DID NOT SEE WHY THE <br />TAXPAYERS FOR GENERATIONS TO COME SHOULD MAINTAIN A ROAD THAT ONLY <br />A FEW PEOPLE ARE USING. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE POINTED OUT THAT THESE ROADS ARE GOING <br />TO HAVE TO BE BUILT TO COUNTY SPECIFICATIONS WHETHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE <br />AND CONTINUED THAT HE COULD NOT THINK OF ANY SUBDIVISION WE HAVE <br />APPROVED WHERE THE ROADS WERE REQUIRED TO BE BUILT TO COUNTY SPECIFI- <br />CATIONS THAT WE HAVE NOT ACCEPTED THE ROADS IF THE DEVELOPER WISHED <br />TO DEDICATE THEM TO THE COUNTY. AS TO THE ROAD ­HAVING TO BE A <br />THOROUGHFARE, HE POINTED OUT THAT EVEN IF THE ROAD WERE EXTENDED, IT <br />WOULD ONLY CONNECT UP TWO DIVISIONS AND THEY COULDNIT GO FURTHER <br />THAN 8TH STREET IN ANY EVENT. <br />a <br />
