ORDINANCE 92- 39 <br />association signs an agreement to connect to the regional <br />system when it is available. <br />(i) The Utilities Department, Environmental Health <br />Department, and the Community Development Department will <br />enforce connection requirements to the regional system <br />-for both residential and non-residential developments. <br />(j) The Utiliti Department, - environmental Health <br />Department, and Community Development Department will <br />enforce connection requirements for single family units <br />to the regional system. Permits for single family units <br />not connecting to a regional system shall indicate that <br />they must connect to the county system when it is <br />available within 200 feet of the property line. <br />(k) The appropriate type and size of package treatment plants <br />will be determined by the Utilities Department and/or the <br />Environmental Health Department. <br />(1) Any development must meet the above general provisions, <br />Florida Administrative Code 10-D-6 requirements, and <br />County Environmental Health Requirements to qualify for <br />any of the specific exceptions listed below. <br />(2) Connection --Criteria for Single Family Residential Dwelling <br />Units <br />No building permit for a new single-family residential unit <br />within two hundred (200) feet of the regional system shall be <br />issued unless the unit connects to the regional system. <br />(a) Single family residential dwelling units located more <br />than two hundred (200) feet from a collection line of the <br />Indian River County sanitary sewer system may utilize <br />on-site septic system if any of the following conditions <br />are met. <br />The single-family residential unit is in an area <br />having a density of two (2) units per acre or less. <br />2. The single-family residential unit will utilize <br />public water and i s i n an area with a density of <br />four units per acre or less. <br />Undersized lots in existing subdivisions not <br />meeting the requirements of subsections 1 and 2 <br />above may utilize an on-site septic system if the <br />single- family unit satisfies the requirements of <br />the Public Health Unit, Division of Environmental <br />Health. <br />4. The single-family residential unit is in the <br />agricultural (1 unit/5 acres, 1 unit/10 acres, and <br />1 unit/20 acres) or rural (1 unit/acre) area of the <br />county, as designated by the land use map of the <br />comprehensive plan. <br />(3) Connection Criteria for •• Residential Projects <br />(subdivision, multi -family, site plan, PD, DRI) <br />No new . - • • to • residential project <br />within 1/4 mile of the regional system shall be approved <br />unlessMI • . •e the project connects to the regional <br />system.
