REINHOLD POINTED OUT THAT THE DOCUMENTS THAT THE ARCHITECT <br />REPRESENTED TO THE BOARD AS FIREWALL CONSTRUCTION WERE NOT PART OF <br />THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, BUT WERE ISSUED AT A LATER DATE ALONG <br />WITH A DIRECTIVE TO THE CONTRACTOR REQUESTING THAT HE PREPARE A <br />PROPOSAL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THESE ADDITIONAL FIREWALLS. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS COMMENTED THAT THERE OBVIOUSLY IS A DIFFERENCE <br />OF OPINION, AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO SETTLE THAT QUESTION TONIGHT. <br />OUR OBJECT gONIGHT IS TO GET THE JOB DONE AND THEN FIND OUT WHAT <br />INTERPRETATION IS CORRECT. <br />MR. REINHOLD NEXT POINTED OUT THAT THE LETTER UNDER DISCUSSION <br />DIRECTS THE CONTRACTOR TO CONSTRUCT A ONE-HOUR FIREWALL. HE NOTED <br />THAT THEY PRESENTLY ARE WORKING UNDER THE COUNTY'S CONSULTANT AND <br />DOING WHAT HE TELLS THEM TO DO AND HE IS SAYING IT IS A ONE-HOUR <br />FIREWALL; IN SOME CASES, THE CONTRACTOR DOES NOT AGREE THAT IT IS. <br />MR. REINHOLD CONTINUED THAT IF THEY ARE TO BUILD THE ONE-HOUR FIREWALL <br />UNDER THE COUNTY CODE, THEY WILL HAVE TO RETAIN A CONSULTANT OF THEIR <br />OWN. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS STATED THAT IF THE CONTRACTOR WILL RELY ON <br />THE ARCHITECTS SPECIFICATIONS, THE OWNERS WILL BE SATISFIED. HE <br />POINTED OUT THAT IF THE CONTRACTOR DID THE WORK IN THE FIRST PART <br />UNDER THE SPECIFICATIONS AS THE ARCHITECT DELINEATED, THEY CAN DQ <br />IT NOW. <br />MR. REINHOLD STATED THAT THEY ARE BEING TOLD TO CONSTRUCT <br />ONE-HOUR FIREWALLS BUT WITHOUT PUTTING IN ONE-HOUR FIRE RATED DOORS, <br />ETC., WHICH WOULD NEGATE THE VALIDITY OF THE ONE-HOUR FIREWALL. <br />MR. GRAZIANI FELT SURE THAT AS THEY GO ALONG THE ARCHITECT <br />COULD ANSWER EVERY QUESTION AND STATED THAT IF THEY HAVE TO PROVIDE <br />OUTSIDE CONSULTANTS TO CLARIFY, THEY WILL. <br />ADMINISTRATOR NELSON INFORMED THE BOARD THAT A LETTER HAS <br />BEEN PREPARED THAT WILL ISSUE A WORK ORDER TO PERFORM THE COMPLETE <br />WORK ON THE FIREWALLS AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND DETAILED IN THE <br />FIREWALL LIST AND ALSO REQUEST THAT THE CONTRACTOR SUBMIT A FORMAL <br />PROPOSAL PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THIS WORK.
