Section 02002 <br />THE CLEANING OF IN-SERVICE PIPING SYSTEMS <br />The cleaning of this Piping system shall be accomplished by the controlled and <br />Pressurized passage though this system of a series of hydraulic or pneu <br />plugs of varying dimensions, coatings and densities, (poly pigs). matic poly urethane <br />1 The dimensions, coatings and densities of these poly pigs shall be <br />determined by: <br />a) The particulars of the system to be cleaned <br />b) The recommendation of the engineer or comparable project <br />authority <br />d) C) The recommendation of the manufacturer of the poly pigs <br />The recommendations of an eYpeuenced contractor whose <br />specials is in the use and application of the poly pig for the <br />cleaning of pip, systems. <br />2. Prior to commencement, the contractor shall submit aplan, indicating <br />its proposed methods to clean the piping system (cleaning plan). The <br />plan shall include: <br />a) Schedule of Work — Time frame for individual tasks. <br />b) Recommended type and frequency of use of polypigs <br />c) Testing procedures <br />d) Disinfection procedures <br />e) Statement indicating the plan is in adherence to the FDEP permit, <br />and description of any methods or testing contrary to or in addition <br />to the methods outlined in these construction plans and <br />specifications. <br />The plan shall include the minimum requirements outlined in Section <br />02001 "Conversion Methods" — Minimum Recommended <br />Requirements, Brine Line to Potable Water Main. <br />3. A series of these predetermined pigs shall be entered into the system <br />at a point as near to the beginning of the system as is logistically and <br />mechanically feasible. This entering point may take the form of a <br />fitting installed into this system specifically for this purpose or may be <br />a line size accent point which can serve as a means to permit entrance <br />of the cleaning pigs. <br />4. The poly pigs shall be entered into the system by the use of a pig <br />launching assembly. This launching assembly shall allow for: <br />02002-1 <br />
