Remove protection after concrete has been placed on both <br />sides of joint. <br />(6) Fillers and Sealants: Comply with the requirements of these specifications for <br />preparation of joints, materials installations and performance, and as herein specified. <br />Concrete Finish�ng <br />1. After striking -off and consolidating concrete, smooth the surface by screening and floating. Use <br />hand methods only where mechanical floating is not possible. Adjust the floating to compact <br />the surface and produce a uniform texture. <br />2. After, floating, test surface for trueness with a 20 ft. straight edge. Variations exceeding one- <br />third inch for any two points within 10 feet shall not be acceptable. Distribute concrete as <br />required to remove surface irregularities, ,and refloat repai, ed areas to provide a continuous <br />smooth finish. <br />3. Work edges of slabs, gutters, back top edge of curb, and formed joints with an edging tool, and <br />round 10-112" radius, unless otherwise indicated. Eliminate any tool marks on concrete surface. <br />4. After completion of floating and when excess moisture or surface sheen has disappeared, <br />broom finish sidewalks by drawing a fine -hair broom across concrete surface, perpendicular to <br />a line of pedestrian traffic. <br />5. Do not remove forms for 24 hours after concrete has been placed. After form removal, clean <br />ends of joints and point -up any minor honeycombed areas. <br />Curing <br />Protect and cure finished concrete paving and walks, as required. Use moist -curing methods for initial <br />curing whenever possible of approved concrete curing compounds. <br />Repairs And Protection: <br />1. Repair or replace broken or defective concrete, as directed by Engineer. <br />2. Drill test cores where directed by Engineer, when necessary to determine magnitude of cracks <br />or defective areas. Fill drilled core holes in satisfactory pavement areas with Portland cement <br />concrete bonded to pavement with epoxy resin grout. <br />3. Protect concrete from damage until acceptance of work. When construction traffic is permitted, <br />maintain pavement as clean as possible by removing surface stains and spillage of materials as <br />they occur. <br />4.
