Of the total <br />acreage, approximately 80,960 acres are located in Indian River County. Located north of S.R. 60, <br />the Blue Cypress Conservation Area and the Fellsmere Water Management Area contain <br />approximately 60,100 acres (combined). South of S.R. 60, the SJRWMD owns approximately <br />20,860 acres known as the Fort Drum Marsh Conservation Area. <br />• Blue Cypress Conservation Area <br />The Blue Cypress Conservation Area is managed by the SJRWMD for conservation, recreation and <br />water management purposes. This area contains the recently restored Stick Marsh and the Blue <br />Cypress Water Management Area. Species present in the Blue Cypress Conservation Area include: <br />snail kite, blue heron, white ibis, snowy egret, limpkin, wood storks, ospreys and bald eagles. <br />Within the Blue Cypress Conservation Area, recreational opportunities include: hunting, fishing, <br />primitive camping, hiking, bird watching, canoeing, airboating, and powerboating (in designated <br />areas). <br />Community Development Department Indian River County 74 <br />
