stormwater treatment projects have included the Sebastian Stormwater Park, the Main Relief Canal <br />filtration system, and the Egret Marsh project. <br />OBJECTIVE 17: COASTAL POPULATION <br />Through 2030, the county will have no increase in land use designation density or intensity <br />within the Coastal High Hazard Area. <br />Polio: The county shall not approve plan amendments that increase the residential density <br />or land use intensity within the Coastal High Hazard Area. <br />Policy 17.2: The county shall support programs of land acquisition on the barrier island for <br />natural resource preservation, recreation or both. <br />Polio: The county shall limit densities in the coastal high hazard area to ensure timely <br />evacuation of the barrier island. <br />Policy 17.4: The county shall prohibit new development of adult congregate living facilities, <br />nursing homes, homes for the aged, total care facilities, and similar developments within the <br />Coastal High Hazard Area. <br />Policy 17.5: The county hereby adopts the Coastal High Hazard Area boundary depicted on the <br />county's Future Land Use Map. <br />OBJECTIVE 18: TRADITIONAL NEIGHBORHOOD DESIGN (TND) COMMUNITIES <br />Between January 1, 1998 and January 1, 2020, ten percent of new residential development <br />(dwelling units) occurring in unincorporated Indian River County will be located in <br />Traditional Neighborhood Design projects. <br />Policy 18.1: By January 2011, the county shall adopt land development regulations that establish <br />the TND, Traditional Neighborhood Design zoning district. The TND district shall be limited to <br />planned developments. To qualify as a TND development, projects must meet the following <br />criteria: <br />Development Parameters <br />1. The minimum contiguous project land area shall be 40 acres. <br />2. Land shall be under unified control, planned and developed as a whole in a single <br />development or as an approved series of developments or neighborhoods.
