➢ Okeechobee County <br />The county's southwest border is shared with Okeechobee County. Just like other areas in the <br />western portion of the county, land uses along the county line in this area consist of natural land <br />and agriculture. Florida's Turnpike forms a portion of this boundary. <br />➢ St. Lucie County <br />The majority of Indian River's south county boundary is shared with St. Lucie County. Along <br />the western limits of this boundary (about 20 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean), most of the area <br />consists of cultivated agricultural land, the turnpike and the St. Johns Marsh. While agriculture, <br />in particular citrus, dominates the Indian River County area between the St. Johns Marsh and I- <br />95; grazing and natural land uses are more readily distinguished on the St. Lucie side. East of I- <br />95, residential uses predominate; however, an active landfill and a state correctional facility are <br />located in Indian River County east of I-95 at the St. Lucie County boundary. In St. Lucie <br />County east of I-95, a large mobile home community exists along the Indian River County <br />border. On the barrier island at the counties' boundary, there is a state-owned park. <br />Future Land Use Element 35 <br />
