Basically, the Order mandates a 151 reduction in water use <br />within the above-described area of the District. This is ac- <br />complished by a 150 reduction on the -part of public water suppliers <br />utilizing whatever measures they deem appropriate or measures <br />specified in the Order if the earlier measures fail. In addition, <br />.irrigators are to reduce their water use by a like amount as <br />compared to the water use during the two-week period prior to <br />April 30, 1981. Measures for achieving this 15% reduction are <br />further specified in the Order. Lawn irrigation -is -not allowed <br />between the hours of 9:0.0 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Industrial, processing, <br />commercial, and mining users as well as self -supplied water users <br />within the mandatory area are also ordered to reduce water use by <br />15% based upon the same period.- <br />Since <br />eriod.- <br />Since compliance with this Order may effectively modify <br />the provisions of your permit until the declaration is rescinded, <br />we are sending you a copy of this letter along with the Order for <br />your information. HE FELT WE MUST ALL PLAN FOR THE <br />WORST POSSIBLE WATER CONDITION. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE AGREED THAT THE BOARD NEEDS TO URGE <br />CITIZENS OF THE COUNTY TO ADHERE TO THE ORDER OF THE WATER MANAGEMENT <br />DISTRICT BY CUTTING THE USE OF WATER BY 15%. <br />LENGTHY DISCUSSION FOLLOWED. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS SUGGESTED THAT THE BOARD AUTHORIZE AN AD <br />OF APPROPRIATE SIZE INDICATING TO THE PUBLIC THAT THERE IS A WATER <br />SHORTAGE. <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK, SECONDED BY COM- <br />MISSIONER FLETCHER, THAT THE BOARD AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />TO DRAFT AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PUBLIC FOR PUBLICATION. <br />NEWSMAN MARK WEINBERG, OF WTTB, COMMENTED THAT THE NEWS <br />MEDIA WAS HAPPY TO DO THEIR PART IN RUNNING ANNOUNCEMENTS AND DOING <br />NEWS STORIES ABOUT THE SITUATION. <br />BOOK ;A <br />46 - fi� '37 ^' <br />. � <br />JUL 151991 ., <br />15 <br />II� <br />
