Raymond, Chief Deputy, Indian <br />River County Sheriff's Office. It is recommended that the data herein <br />presented be given formal consideration by the County Commission. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The National Institute of Corrections is offering a special issue seminar <br />designed to assist counties who are contemplating building a new jail facility. <br />The seminar will cover in-depth the following subjects: <br />A complete mission statement <br />Total System Planning <br />Forecasting methods <br />Action planning <br />Jail modeling <br />Project Management <br />Facility development process <br />Jail and offender data analysis and projections <br />Legal issues and jail standards <br />Facility programming and design <br />Jail modeling <br />The Institute has requested that a team consisting of: <br />The Sheriff or Chief Deputy <br />The Jail Administrator <br />A Facility Planner and <br />A member of the County Commission who has decision making authority <br />be appointed and scheduled to attend a seminar to be held at the University <br />of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. The dates currently available for this seminar <br />are: <br />November 8th thru 14th - 1981, or <br />January 17th thru 23rd - 1982 <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Funding is not required. NIC will reimburse Coach Class Airfare, .round_ trip, <br />meals, double occupancy, lodging and conference materials. <br />Recommend that a team consisting of the Sheriff, Jail Administrator, a <br />facility planner, the County Administrator, and a member of the County Commission <br />be appointed as a Planning Committee for new jail. <br />Recommend that the Chief Deputy be appointed as alternate for the sheriff, and <br />the Assistant County Administrator as alternate for the County Administrator. <br />Further recommend that the November 8th thru 14th - 1981 date become first <br />consideration.
