ORDINANCE NO. 79-6 <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ENERGY <br />EFFICIENCY BUILDING CODE, REFERRED TO AS THE INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY ENERGY CODE; PROVIDING FOR ADMINISTRATION; <br />DEFINITIONS; DESIGN CONDITIONS; BUILDING DESIGN BY <br />SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF BUILDINGS UTILIZING <br />'NON-DEPLETABLE ENERGY SOURCES; BUILDING DESIGN BY <br />COMPONENT - PERFORMANCE APPROACH; BUILDING DESIGN <br />BY ACCEPTABLE PRACTICE; COOLING DESIGN DAY METHOD; <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN <br />COUNTY FLORIDA: <br />SECTION I <br />This Ordinance shall be referred to in the Indian River <br />County Code of Ordinances as Chapter 4-110. <br />"Sec. 4-110. Energy Efficiency Building Code. <br />(a) The Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County does hereby adopt an additional building <br />code for said County, the "Indian River County Energy <br />Efficiency Building Code", also known as "The Code <br />For Energy Conservation In New Building Construction <br />With Florida Amendments", and referred to herein as <br />the "Indian River County Energy Code", three (3) copies <br />of which are on file in the office of the County Clerk, <br />all of which are hereby made a part of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the County of Indian River as if herewith <br />completely incorporated herein subject only to specific <br />additions, deletions, and amendments as set forth in this <br />Section 4-110. Any person, firm or corporation, vio- <br />lating or convicted of a violation of any provision of <br />said Code shall be punished by penalties as provided <br />by law. <br />(b) The introductory paragraph of Section 503.9 <br />in the Energy Code is amended to read as follows: <br />"All duct work shall be constructed and erected in <br />accordance with Standards RS -15, RS -16, RS -17, RS -18, <br />RS -19, or RS -20, as applicable, which Standards super- <br />sede the Standards in Section 502 of the Standard <br />Mechanical Code now or hereafter in effect as adopted <br />by the County. The other provisions of Chapter V of <br />the said Mechanical Code apply to the extent the <br />specific criteria is not addressed to any appliable <br />RS Standards. If there is a conflict between any <br />provision of Chapter V of the said Mechanical Code <br />as amended now or hereafter and the RS Standards, the <br />RS Standards shall control. Sub -paragraphs (a), (b), <br />and (c) of Section 503.9 are not amended. <br />(c) The italicized paragraph in paragraph (e) <br />of Section 505.2 of the Energy Code is hereby deleted. <br />Said paragraph which is deleted reads as follows: <br />A single meter for the building can be installed to <br />determine power company charges with sub -metering <br />for each tenant to pro -rate the charges between <br />tenants. <br />
