(2) Impound such animal or both such impoundment and affidavit. <br />Section 3-11. Notice to owners of impoundment. <br />When any animal shall be impounded under the provisions of this <br />chapter, the animal control director or his designated assistants shall give <br />immediate notice in person, or by United States mail, to the owner of said <br />animal at his, or her, address, if the same is known after reasonable effort <br />and search has been made to ascertain the same, which notice shall inform <br />the owner of the impounding of such animal. <br />Section 3-12. Redemption of impounded animals. <br />(a) If any animal is impounded for any reason other than for <br />quarantine and is not redeemed within five (5) cons<c�itive days after <br />impoundment of such animal, including the day of impoundment, the animal <br />control director, or designated agent, without further notice to the owner <br />of such animal, if any, may dispose of the animal as provided in Section <br />3-7. <br />(b) The owner or owners agent shall be entitled to resume <br />possession of any animal upon compliance, if applicable, of the licensing <br />provisions of this chapter and the payment of impoundment fees set forth <br />by Resolution. Proof of ownership must be given prior to being <br />entitled to resume possession. Proof of ownership may include a license <br />receipt, affidavits of neighbors, photographs or other reliable documentary <br />evidence. This section shall not apply to animals impounded under <br />Sections 3-36 (b) and 3-6. <br />(c) The final day of the five-day period shall only occur on a <br />day the pound is open for normal operating activities. <br />Section 3-13. Disposition of impounded animals. <br />Any animal impounded under the provisions of this chapter and not <br />redeemed as provided in Section 3-12 shall become the property of Indian <br />River County, Florida. The animal control director, or designated agent, <br />shall humanely destroy such animal, transfer its title to the humane <br />society or place it in the custody of some person deemed to be a responsible <br />
