Dr. Phil Morgan, came before the Board and agreed that <br />there would have to be more access to the hospital in the very near <br />future - he also was in favor of getting the paramedics program <br />going. <br />Dan Richey, concerned citizen, was in favor of getting the <br />permitting completed for the project, as a great deal of money had <br />already been spent. <br />Mr. Zorc approached the Board again to suggest that a <br />bridge be built over the railroad tracks on U. S. #1 in order to get <br />to the hospital quickly from the west side of the County. He was <br />hopeful to get the project issue straightened out locally or they <br />would be forced to fight the permitting process, as there were <br />several levels of appeals. As of this date, he noted that he had a <br />fairly large contingency of people to take this matter to court. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Scurlock, seconded by <br />Commissioner Fletcher, that.the Board select Alternative 2, which <br />would complete all the design work at a cost not to exceed $11,620, <br />have the Administrator gather all the alternatives so this matter <br />could be placed on the ballot in a reasonable and well -presented <br />manner at the next election. <br />engineers. <br />Lengthy discussion followed about the contract with the <br />Commissioner Wodtke felt Indian River Boulevard had been <br />a long-standing project and had been a commitment by the Board for <br />a great many years. He did not think that a road could be planned <br />by referendum. Commissioner Wodtke strongly felt that there was <br />a need for this road - it is a vital road and we must have access <br />to the hospital. He commented that so much -time and effort had been <br />put into working on this project, and strongly urged the Board to go <br />through the necessary permitting.
