ORDINANCE NO. 82-1 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA ADOPTING THE LAND USE <br />ELEMENT OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR THE UNINCORPORATED <br />AREAS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE "LOCAL <br />GOVERNMENT COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING ACT OF 1975", AS AMENDED, <br />SECTIONS 163.3161, ET. SEQ., FLORIDA STATUTES, PROVIDING <br />FOR A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, PURPOSE, VESTED RIGHTS, REPEAL OF <br />CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, "The Local Government Comprehensive Planning Act of 1975" as <br />amended, Section 163.3161, et. seq., Florida Statutes requires each local <br />government in the State of Florida to adopt a Comprehensive Plan to guide and <br />control future development; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to said act, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County appointed the Indian River County Planning and Zoning Com- <br />mission as the local planning agency for the County; and <br />_ WHEREAS, the local planning agency has held public hearings on the <br />Comprehensive Plan and recommends adoption of the plan by the Board of County <br />Commissioners; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Commission has held numerous public hearings and work- <br />shops on the Comprehensive Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, all requirements of the Florida Statutes with regard to public <br />input and review by the local planning agency have been met. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida that; <br />SECTION I, COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: Pursuant to the provisions of the "Local <br />Government Comprehensive Planning Act of 1975", as amended, Section 163.3161, et. <br />seq., Florida Statutes, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, hereby declares its intent to exercise its authority to plan for future <br />development in the unincorporated areas of Indian River County and hereby adopts <br />the Land Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan of Indian River County, a copy of <br />which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. <br />SECTION II, PURPOSE: The Land Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan of <br />Indian River County is adopted to direct and achieve coordinated and harmonious <br />development and land use in a manner which will permit planning for adequate <br />
