JAN 61992 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-4 <br />OF <br />CHARLES R. PARKS <br />em 48 PA477 <br />WHEREAS, on April 15, 1958, CHARLES R. PARKS began his <br />career as Director of Recreation for the City of Vero Beach, <br />Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, CHARLES R. PARKS has served in such capacity in an <br />exemplary fashion until January 15, 1982; and <br />WHEREAS, CHARLES R. PARKS has worked closely with County <br />officials in making recreational programs available to both <br />County and City residents; and <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure CHARLES R. PARKS was <br />instrumental- in instituting special activities including the <br />Junior Orange Bowl Contest, Halloween Parade, Easter Frolics and <br />the Labor Day Olympics; and <br />WHEREAS, he is responsible for organizing the first Girls' <br />Gymnastics; Girls', Women's and Men's Softball Leagues; Boys' <br />Baseball and the Day Camp Program; and <br />WHEREAS, CHARLES R. PARKS has helped to develop the <br />city-wide park system including shuffleboard, tennis, racketball <br />courts, playground equipment, lighted softball fields, beach <br />parks and surfing areas; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, sitting in regular <br />session this 6th day of January, 1982, that the Board' -commends <br />CHARLES R. PARKS for his excellent service to the community; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board expresses and extends <br />to CHARLES R.
