I, <br />`�. 12/27/88(ORD)Legal)Vk <br />ORDINANCE NO. 89- 4 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />—FLORIDA,—AMENDING ORDINANCENG. 87-66, <br />WHICH RELATES TO CERTIFICATION OF BASIC <br />AND ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT SERVICES, BY <br />PROVIDING AN EXPANDED DEFINITION FOR EMS <br />DIRECTOR AND PROVIDING EMERGENCY POWERS <br />TO THE DIRECTOR. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by Indian River County, acting through <br />its Board of County Commissioners, that: <br />SECTION 1__ CHANGE_ IN DEFINITION_ OF EMS DIRECTOR <br />The definition of "EMS Director," as provided in <br />Section 2 of Indian River County Ordinance No. 87-66, which <br />presently reads as follows: <br />"EMS Director - shall mean the Director of <br />Emergency Management Services of Indian River <br />County, Florida." <br />shaa_I b-e—changed--to—th"o-I-l-aw t <br />EMS Director - shall mean the Director of <br />Emergency Management Services of Indian River <br />County, Florida, charged with the responsibility <br />and authority to supervise, direct, and administer <br />the EMS, ALS, and BLS systems on a county -wide <br />basis to effectuate delivery of pre -hospital <br />emergency medical services. If a situation exists <br />which poses a serious or imminent threat to the <br />health, safety, welfare, or public need and <br />convenience, the EMS Director shall have such <br />temporary emergency powers as are necessary to <br />remedy the situation. <br />SECT I ON -2-.
