JAN 271992 <br />©oh43PAF 678 <br />Land Company simply by contacting the Department of Natural <br />Resources and obtaining a "Slow Down" order for the boats. <br />He did not believe the proposed perimeter road would be the <br />same as Jungle Trail since the boat owners soon would <br />pressure to have it paved; he did not agree that the <br />location of the yacht club is ideal because Sebastian Inlet <br />is well known as a very dangerous inlet and it is 20 miles <br />to the Fort Pierce Inlet; he did not believe the need for <br />this facility has been established; and he recommended <br />denial of the request to cut through Jungle Trail. <br />Walter Cunningham of Orchid Island opposed a yacht <br />club, especially since the wakes of the boats would be <br />destructive to the island on which he lives. He asked that <br />the Board maintain Jungle Trail as it is and not allow <br />special concessions for those who can afford yachts. <br />William Koolage, county resident for ten years, was <br />strongly opposed to allowing -any cut in Jungle Trail or any <br />public road for private use. He felt the proposal made by <br />Florida Land Company is not in the public interest of the <br />citizens of the county and urged the Board to vote against <br />it. <br />Richard Jones, resident of Jungle Trail for 63 years, <br />believed this is the prettiest piece of Florida left and <br />urged the Commission to preserve the trail. <br />George Bachman, of 501 Camelia, and Maxine Mallion of <br />1345 46th Avenue, both felt it is important for people to <br />have a place like Jungle Trail and that it should be left as <br />it is. <br />Richard Timberlake of Summerplace made the following <br />statement on behalf of 300 home owners in Summerplace and <br />Orchid, about thirty of whom were present in the audience. <br />30 <br />
