r <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 85- 38 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, RELATING TO MARRIAGES, DISSOLUTION <br />OF MARRIAGES, FAMILIES, AND CONTROVERSIES <br />INVOLVING THE FAMILY; PROVIDING FOR THE <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />FAMILY MEDIATION AND CONCILIATION SERVICE <br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 749, FLORIDA <br />STATUTES, FOR SUCH PURPOSES AS ARE PROVIDED <br />IN SAID STATU'T'E; PROVIDING FOR ADMINISTRATION, <br />FUNDING, REPEAL OF CONFLICTING PROVISIONS, <br />SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN CODE, AND <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 749, Florida Statutes, allows counties <br />to establish a family mediation or conciliation service to assist <br />parties in resolving any controversy involving the family, and <br />WHEREAS, the Circuit Judges of the 19th Judicial Circuit <br />assigned to Indian River County have requested the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County to establish a family <br />mediation and conciliation service, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, has determined that the public health, <br />safety and welfare of the residents of the County will be promoted <br />by the establishment of a family mediation and conciliation service <br />to assist parties in resolving controversies involving the family; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />SECTION 1. <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF FAMILY MEDIATION <br />AND CONCILIATION SERVICE <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, hereby establishes, pursuant to the provisions of Florida <br />Statutes Chapter 749, an Indian River County Family Mediation and <br />Conciliation Service. <br />SECTION 2. <br />PURPOSE <br />The purpose of the Indian River County Family Mediation <br />and Conciliation Service shall be to assist parties in resolving <br />controversies involving the family, as authorized by Chapter 749, <br />Florida Statutes. <br />-1- <br />
