Nelson <br />County Administrator <br />Description & Conditions <br />DATE: February 23, 1982 FILE: <br />SUBJECT: Purchase of Ixora and Treasure <br />Coast Utilities <br />Use of Remaining FmHA Obligated <br />Water Monies <br />REFERENCES: <br />Under prior authorization from the Board, the Farmers Home Administration <br />was contacted regarding the feasibility of loans to purchase and improve Treasure <br />Coast Utilities and Ixora Utilities (see letter Nelson to Hudnell dated <br />January 14, 1982). Further, the Board authorized our consulting engineers to <br />prepare an application for subsequent loans. <br />During the development of the application and supporting data, discussions <br />were held with County Staff regarding acquisition of loan funds to cover the <br />approximate $426,000 short fall for the Phase I South County Water System now <br />under construction. <br />The opinion of County Staff and our consultants was the timing for reim- <br />bursement to cover the short fall was good. Further discussions were held with <br />FmHA regarding inclusion of the short fall in the application. FmHA indicated <br />acceptance. <br />Also during the data preparation process, it was determined the County has <br />commitments to serve 59151 connections when the water plant begins operation in <br />October, 1982. This does not include the commitment to serve the South Beach. <br />The water plant was designed to supply water to 5,000 connections. It was the <br />
