M. <br />DISCUSSION RE SUNSHINE LAW <br />Commissioner Fletcher commented that he was hoping to <br />have discussion of the Sunshine Law and felt he needs more <br />direction on this, especially as relating to conversations <br />between Commissioners. <br />In general discussion, it was noted that, although <br />there is literature available from the State that outlines <br />this law very accurately, this is a complicated situation <br />and there are a variety of opinions. When there is any <br />question, it is referred to the State's Attorney's office <br />and he renders his opinion. It was further felt that in <br />general, private discussion between Commissioners which <br />involves a question of Commission action is, in effect, <br />taboo and any time a Commissioner has a question on this, he <br />should consult with the County Attorney. <br />Attorney Brandenburg stated that he would be happy to <br />prepare a memo or some sort of guideline on the Sunshine Law <br />for Commissioner Fletcher individually or for the Board as a <br />whole. <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />Commissioner Fletcher reported that the above Committee <br />is supposed to begin on the 16th of next week. He notbd <br />that when he originally asked to be on this committee, he <br />did not realize that the Transportation Committee would keep <br />him so busy. He requested that the other Commissioners <br />give some consideration to chairing this committee in his <br />stead. <br />SELECTION COMMITTEE FOR JAIL BUILDING ARCHITECT <br />Commissioner Lyons reported that the Public Safety <br />Committee has put together a sub -committee to go over all <br />the proposals we have had for a jail architect and the <br />Committee is now engaged in reviewing them.
