MAY 51982 acoK, 49 56 <br />Mr. Armstrong suggested, if possible, the Board could <br />improve the road and make it useable for senior citizens to <br />drive over safely, and with the acquisition of the future <br />property, then the County could improve the street properly. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Lyons, seconded by <br />Commissioner Wodtke, that the County assist the Council on <br />Aging in getting the property owner on the south side of <br />14th Street, from a position opposite the entrance to the <br />proposed Senior Center, to dedicate the necessary <br />right-of-way to the County, so that the County could legally <br />maintain 14th Street between the entrance to the proposed <br />Senior Center and 6th Avenue. <br />Commissioner Lyons noted that his Motion was just to <br />maintain the road;ithey have other places in the County that <br />may have the same kinds of problems. He added if the County <br />helped the Council on Aging to get the property owner to <br />deed the right-of-way to the County, then the County could <br />legally maintain the road. In other words, Commissioner <br />Lyons pointed out that the County was working with the <br />Council on Aging to obtain a County maintained road. <br />Mr. Armstrong stated that the Motion would be helpful <br />to them so that they could go to the federal authorities <br />advising them that the County would provide them with good <br />access to the subject property as soon as additional <br />right-of-way was acquired by the County. <br />A gentleman, who resides at Southgate Village located <br />near the property under discussion, approached the Board. <br />As President of the Southgate Village Association, he asked <br />the Board to pave the road from U.S. #1 all the way to 6th <br />Avenue. He advised that the Association would be glad to <br />give the County the 25' right-of-way they would need, and <br />they planned to remove their fence located on 14th Street. <br />Commissioner Bird commented that the Engineering <br />Department could contact the abutting prc.perty o,vners on <br />
