rBOOK '19, 1 <br />P- 873 <br />JUN 21982 <br />NEW CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT LINES - DISCUSSION <br />Rosemary Richey, Supervisor of Elections, came before <br />the Board and reviewed the following memorandum of May 26, <br />1982: — <br />May 26, 1982 <br />MEMO T0: Board -of County Commissioners. <br />The new congressional district lines and new house <br />district lines do not coincide with each other and <br />neither one of their lines correspond with our <br />precinct lines. Unless we make some changes this <br />will create mass confusion on election day. <br />To correct this problem we will need --to: <br />Create new precinct lines <br />Check each registered elector by address to see which <br />congressional district and house district they will <br />vote in. <br />Notify elector of change. <br />Purchase more voting machines before September election. <br />Extra help $3000 <br />Printing and Post 800 <br />Election 2000 <br />$860 <br />Plus voting machines costs. <br />Rosemary R'chey <br />Supervisor oflections <br />Indian River County <br />Mrs. Richey then displayed a map which outlined the <br />.Congressional Districts that have been imposed recently on <br />the County. The only solution, Mrs. Richey continued, was <br />to make two more precincts; and additional voting machines <br />would be needed. <br />
