JUN 21982 900Y 49- nq I <br />Lengthy discussion ensued and it was determined to <br />leave the County contiguous and use Route 60 corridor as a <br />boundary, and have Mrs. Richey make an analyzation of the <br />population, under some equitable basis of what the - <br />Legislature has imposed on the County, and make it part of <br />the resolution to be drafted. <br />The Chairman called for the question. It was voted on <br />and carried unanimously. <br />Attorney Brandenburg commented that he would give the <br />Board a full report on the drafted resolution at the next <br />meeting. <br />NEW JAIL CONSTRUCTION - RESOLUTION 82-54 <br />The Board reviewed the following correspondence <br />regarding construction of a new jail: <br />Board of County May 11, 19,8 2 <br />TO: Commissioners DATE:FILE: <br />FROM: Patrick B. Lyons <br />SUBJECT: <br />REFERENCES: <br />Attached are copies from Louis Wainwright's office approving <br />our plans for up -grading the jail. The letters point out that <br />approval is based on receiving a Resolution from the Commission <br />indicating that we plan to have a new jail within the next three <br />years. With our present schedule of planning, this appears to be <br />a definite possibility. <br />We have on file a Resolution promising a jail within five <br />years provided we get certain assistance from the State. This is <br />not considered satisfactory. <br />The cost of complying with the State's request is <br />considerably less than putting ourselves in the position of <br />operating under a federal mandate. The Public Safety Committee <br />recognized this and at its meeting on May 18th, unanimously <br />recommended that the County Commissioners provide Mr. Wainwright <br />with a Resolution indicating that we are planning to have a new <br />jail within the next three years. <br />
