RESOLUTION NO. 82- 54 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING THE <br />COUNTY'S INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A NEW JAIL FACILITY <br />WITHIN.THREE YEARS. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County has made a continuing effort to make the necessary <br />improvements to the current jail facilities to meet the minimum <br />State requirements, and <br />WHEREAS, representatives of the County have met with the <br />various State correction and health officials to pinpoint and <br />formulate solutions to the current problems at the County jail, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it appears that the growth pattern now estab- <br />lished for Indian_River County will continue resulting in in- <br />creased population placing an additional demand on the County's <br />jail facilities, and <br />WHEREAS, as a part of the overall County planning pro- <br />cess for future capital expenditures, the County Commission now <br />recognizes that it will be necessary to construct a new jail <br />facility to assure full compliance with Chapter 33-8, Florida <br />Admistrative Code. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that; <br />1. The County Commission finds and determines that it <br />is in the public's best interest to construct a new jail facility <br />within three (3) years, and <br />2. It is the established goal of Indian River County to <br />construct a jail facility in three (3) years and assure full con- <br />tinuing compliance with Chapter 33-8, Florida Administrative <br />Code. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner <br />Patrick B. Lyons who moved its adoption. The motion was <br />seconded by Commissioner Wodtke and, upon being put to a <br />vote, the vote was as follows: <br />Chairman Don C. Scurlock, Jr. Aye <br />Vice -Chairman A. Grover Fletcher Aye <br />Commissioner Patrick B. Lyons Aye <br />Commissioner William C.
